OUR STORY
Parole4Maine is a diverse team of Maine citizens who see how the current prison system falls short of protecting our communities and who believe deeply in the human capacity for change. Our team of volunteers believe that an earned path to reintegration will make our communities safer and reduce the costs of recidivism. Parole4Maine’s work centers public education and advocacy to achieve the restoration of parole.
We hope you will explore our site, educate yourself, and sign up for updates on the push for parole and meaningful criminal legal reform in Maine. If you would like to have your voice included in this work, please email questions, concerns, testimony, and thoughts to info@parole4maine.com.
OUR APPROACH
Our approach is to amplify the voice and will of the people. Since we live in a democracy, Parole4Maine approaches this work as a group of citizens working to uplift the voices of other citizens who haven’t yet been able to get our public officials to use their positions to reflect the will of the people.
Polling conducted by YouGov shows that over 80% of Maine voters support the restoration of parole.
Parole reflects Mainers’ general belief in the right to redemption for all people. Fundamentally, our approach is to extend that love to those we don’t know yet.
